Indian head massage can help to relax, soothe or invigorate the receiver. It is a treatment that involves the therapist using their hands to knead, rub and squeeze the muscles on the upper back, upper arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. Indian head massage is becoming very popular in the west and has some advantages over other massage treatments for the following reasons:-
Indian head massage is one of the fastest growing holistic therapies. The level of relaxation that it is possible to achieve, has to be seen, or experienced to be believed - it has been witnessed that clients have fallen asleep or just drifted away into deep relaxation after only the shortest of treatments.

Benefits of Indian head massage

Indian head massage is a safe, simple and yet effective therapy. It is not only relaxing and enjoyable, but also induces a feeling of well- being and calm and helps to re-balance the body, sharpen the mind and improve concentration.

It is particularly beneficial to anyone who sits for a long period of time, for example computer users, who often experience pain and tension in the neck and shoulders and may also be prone to eyestrain, headaches and lapses in concentration.
It is an excellent introduction to massage for those who have not experienced it before, particularly as the massage is carried out with the client seated in a chair without the need for them to undress.

When carried out on a regular basis, Indian head massage is renowned for helping to relieve stress, anxiety, depression and mental tension. Regular Head massage also stimulates the circulation to the hair follicles, which can help to maintain healthy hair.

In an ideal world, if the client can afford it, Indian Head Massage should ideally be carried out once or even twice a week for maximum benefit. Each person however is different, and the number of treatments needed depends on the individual and this will be discussed as part of the treatment plan. On average, a course of 4 to 6 treatments should suffice and it is recommended that these treatments are taken as close together as possible. The client may of course then wish to continue receiving treatment on a regular basis, perhaps monthly or fortnightly.

Body Work is offered daily to help ease sore muscles and align the spine and shoulders.

Some people think that body work therapy is only for relaxation and that it’s really just a luxury, but that is not entirely true. Body work therapy will definitely relax you, but there is so much going on physiologically during a treatment you’ll really be surprised at the many benefits you receive.

This gives the body a chance to de-stress on the physical level. When the body stays in a state of constant stress (you may not realize it, even just daily work stress can activate the body’s sympathetic nervous system), eventually the body will break down. Stress related diseases are common and body work therapy combined with a good diet and exercise will definitely decrease your chances of developing those diseases.

Another benefit of body work is that it can relieve chronic pain or muscle tension. A weekly treatment can help to retrain the muscles to relax. Our nerves and muscles have memory. When we experience stress or trauma even though we may not think about it after a while, our nerves and muscles will remember the experience. This can often lead to muscles staying contracted or spasming in an effort to guard the body against the stress or trauma.
But you can see that just by taking the time to enjoy a relaxing therapeutic body work you are truly allowing your body to rejuvenate and detoxify. In the environment that we live and work in, any little thing that we can do to improve our health will help our body to serve us better and longer. ”
